二. SAT作文评分过程
SAT作文的审查由美国教育考试服务中心(ETS )召集大学和高中的语文教师进行。 委员会先培训评审这些试卷的老师，给他们一些文章，让大家根据自己的感觉评分，分数范围定在1-6。 结果自然均衡的分数有很大的差异。 例如，A评分者认为这份试卷中有几个拼写错误而扣了一分，B评分者认为这份试卷中有恰到好处的比喻而加了一分。 减少这一分，同一份试卷的得分就产生了两点的差异。 这是评委不希望的，所以委员会会向评委说明具体的评审标准，告诉评委有些拼写错误不要扣分，好的比喻也不要加分，大家一起重新评分。 经过这样多次的评价测试，说明、重新评价、重新说明，最终所有的评价者对同一个答案给出大致相同的分数。 该培训后，正式开始评分工作，规定每份试卷随机由两名评分员评分，分数为0-6分。 如果两个评分者的得分差在1分以下，这两个评分者给出的分数之和就是这篇作文的最终得分。 例如，评分者a给了4分，评分者b给了5分的情况下，该作文的最终得分是9分。 如果两位老师评分的分数之差大于1分，那篇作文由第三位评分者进行评估。 如果多份试卷需要第三位评委进行审核，工作量会大幅增加，分数的公布时间也会延期。 由此可见，不同评价者评价相同或相近分数的重要性。 所以，每个评价者都在考虑如何才能评价出与其他评价者相同或相近的分数。
